There will be a timeline of how things will go. Considering that I would have a building that would need to be renovated, and telephone numbers that I would have to spend thousands of dollars for, this money will go pretty quickly. I know right from the beginning that I will lose all of my benefits, and this is fine. I will also have to pay full rent on my current apartment until I move out. This will mean that I will have to spend some of the money that I will have in order to not live on the streets.
Day 1
I will contact Social Security, DPA, and apartment management to inform them that I no longer qualify for the programs they provide to me. This is where I will have to conserve what I spend money on. If I go too far, I will start eating into the money I will need. Once I contact everyone that needs to be contacted, I will call UPMC Healthcare, and get insurance from them. I will want the same or better quality that I was receiving with Medicaid. I will obviously need a new insurance card.
Once I made all of the phone calls I needed to make, I will then take a bus to my PMB. Close to the PMB is the 4 Story Building. Once there, I will get the telephone number, and while I am in the area, I will check my mail for any letters. I will then go straight home, and call the realty company that is marketing the building. I will offer cash, and just need a structural inspection. Any defects such as leaky pipes, or bad electrical will not be a concern of me as I will be gutting, and renovating the building.
I will also call an arbitrator. I will need the arbitrator to negotiate for the telephone numbers that I will need. I already have my 412, and 855 telephone numbers. I will need the 413, 724, and 878 telephone numbers. These numbers will be sold for a maximum of an undisclosed amount. The arbitrator is to make sure everyone does the right thing. I wouldn’t want to pay for the number, and then the owner does not relinquish the numbers.
Day 2
I will contact a fiduciary investor for an average risk investment account. My goal is a minimum of 9% ROI, and I wouldn’t want to add more risk than necessary. This money will need to be invested in immediately, and I would already have an investment firm lined up while waiting for the money to deposit into my account. I will make an appointment for within a week.
Week 1
I would have hopefully received my new insurance card. I will also do the transfer of the title, and deed of the 4 Story Building into my possession. Since I am not getting a mortgage, I don’t have to worry about all of the negotiating, and closing costs. I wire the money, and the deed and title is signed to me. Pretty simple, and to the point. I will contact the owner of the business that is in floor 1, and work with them on their options. If they wish to stay, then they will need to be out of business for a couple of months while the building is being renovated. I will assume that they wish to stay, and willing to not working for a couple of months. In turn, they will have say in how everything is laid out.
I would contact an architect to draw up a floor plan for each of the floors. The architect will draw up a general outline of the floor plans, and I will say yes or no. Any options he wish to send me will be via email. I will also contact a reputable and insured general contractor to prepare them to gut and eventually renovate the building. Since the business is on the first floor, I will want to wait until everyone is ready to reduce the time that is wasted.
I will be wiling to offer any residential tenants the opportunity to move out within 30 days. If they do, then I will give them 20 months of what rent they were paying to give them an incentive to move out immediately. If they are there after 30 days, I will set forth an eviction notice, and they will receive nothing. I will also need to get work permits, and prepare for the renovation work. I will assume there are no permits required to gut the building, but if so – things should still be worked out by the time the work needs to start.
I will also need to acquire my bank accounts. The gift for my friend will go to one bank. The savings for my emergency fund/taxes/security deposits will be opened and money transferred. All of my investment returns will go to the checking account that I currently have. While I could technically rely on my debit card for purchases, I will continue to use my carry credit card, and pay the card off in full every 2 weeks.
I will go through the process of acquiring any significant purchase that I can for now. For example, I will be able to upgrade my Apple devices, but purchasing an auto will not make much sense for now. I will spend a couple of months learning how to drive, so when my 4 Story Building is renovated, I will have a garage that I will be able to park the auto in. I will pay for my domains for the next 50 years. This will likely assure that I will have my domains for the rest of my life. This will be a significant purchase, but well worth it. I will keep my hosting provider though. I will buy 1 UGreen DXP 8800 for my needs now, and that NAS will plug directly into the new router, and that would plug into a cable modem. The reason for this is I no longer qualify for Internet Essentials. I already have a cable modem that works with Xfinity, and will want a much better router that I can do things with. and have more control than what I have with the current router I have.
I will push to get a passport. I don’t see myself as traveling, but the passport will come in handy for later. I will get both the passport book, and passport card. The card will be used as a form of identification which will be important later.
Month 2
I will have received my first investment check which is essential as I will need to pay my bills. This money will be used to cover all of my cost of living expenses, and with that said, there will be a focus on using that investment fund to pay for things. The rent gets paid, and all of the bills will also be paid for. I will use my carry card to pay for things, and pay the card off every month. The taxes that I would have to account for will go into my savings account which will be used to pay for taxes when taxes are due.
I will acquire a pager line which will be disclosed as a voicemail line. Only a couple people at most will know it is a pager. As for my telephone numbers, I will assume that I received the 3 numbers. I will port the 413 and 724 numbers to my current SIP provider. I will port the 878 number to my cellular phone, and port my 412 number to my SIP provider. All of this will need to be done as quickly as possible. The 412 number will ring to my WP825. My 413 number will forward to my pager number. My 724 number will be a fax receive only number. My 855 number will current forward calls to the home, and cellular phone. And I would assume it would take a couple of days to forward the 878 number to my cellular phone. Anyone still calling the 412 number expecting my cellular phone will be reminded that the phone number is now my 878 number.
I will start work on the 4 Story Building. This work will require the business to temporary close up, and everything will get gutted. I will come on the weekend, and do what I can to reduce the time that would be needed to do the work. Every week, I will meet with the site manager, and discuss how things are going. I will imagine that gutting will take about 2 weeks. Any skeleton structures that are in need of replacing wil be replaced. I want the project to complete as quickly as possible without causing risk of injury, but I will still want to be involved with the project.
Month 4
The building would have been renovated, and I should have my driver’s license. I would still be living in the apartment I currently live in now, but will give the new address since I will be moving there within a month, and the property is technically mine.. I will process a letter that would need to be certified informing that I will be moving out at the end of the next month. This will give them at least 30 day notice that they can do whatever they would need to do. I will furnish the new residence. I will also order the cookware I will need, and any of the other items I will need. I will also contact 1800-Got-Junk, and hire them to remove all of my obsolete items. This will require multiple deliveries, but will be worth the effort.
I will contact my friend, and inform her of the gift that I will offer to her. I will make an arrangement where I will pay off her credit card every 2 weeks until the money is below $10,000. I know she will want a new automobile, and I will work with her on that. She might ask about buying or mortgaging a house, and I will explain that she will not be able to afford the taxes, and I wouldn’t want her to lose her residence in a few years. I will also let her know that I will be moving to my new residence.
I will contact Voter Registration and give them the new address for mailing my voter registration card. This will be essential as I will eventually need to provide this as proof of address. I will also transfer my cable internet service to the new address. This will mean I will be phasing out me living in the old apartment. Once I get all of the resources that I will need to live in the new residence, I will move there completely.
Month 5
I will go to the UPS Store, and provide them with the change of address. This is why the passport will be needed. The ID card, and passport will be the proof of identity, and somehow, it is also proof of address even though a passport card does not have the address on it. I will also go to the old apartment, and provide them with the last paycheck, and keys. I would have also setup mail forwarding just in case there is anything important that was mailed to the old apartment. Since almost all of my documents are going to my PMB, I would doubt that I will be missing anything. All mail will forward to the PMB.
My current home phone number will be the home phone number for the new residence. There will be a number of Grandstream WP815s that would be purchased for every room, including the great room. The office will get the Xerox printer, and there will be 2 Grandstream HT801+ which is a single line ATA which will be used for the 2 fax lines. The current voicemail number will be changed to the house’s fax. My current laser printer will be the printer for the house’s fax which will be located in the library.
Month 6
I will assume that I have addressed everything I need to. I would have lived in my new residence for about 6 weeks. I would consider being a foster parent. I will have to go to classes, but if I can make a positive influence on a child, then it will be worth it. I am sure the 2 story apartment will be a sufficient amount of space for a foster child or two considering I will have a 3 bedroom residence.
